Varsity Shows Strong in Opening Weekend

January 3rd- January 5th officially opened the 2019 campaign for the Cowgirls Varsity Soccer team. With a tough slate of games, the Cowgirls entered the weekend defending a #11 national ranking, #7 state ranking and #3 area ranking. 
 
Thursday the Cowgirls played Belton to a 2-0 win. Goals were scored by Jojo Alonzo and Haley Roberson with the assists being credited to Maya Ozymy and Ryley Andrews.
 
Friday the Cowgirls squared off against McKinney Boyd resulting in a 2-1 win. Goals were scored by Maya Ozymy and Jojo Alonzo with the assist being provided by Allison Scrivner.
 
A second match on Friday put the Cowgirls against 2018 State Champs Frisco Wakeland. The match resulted in a 1-1 tie. The goal was scored by Ryley Andrews with Rebecca Watley providing the assist.
 
The Cowgirls completed their weekend Saturday with a 2-0 win over Centennial. Goals were scored by Rebecca Watley and Allison Scrivner. The assist was provided by Maya Ozymy.
 
Addison Ramirez was named to the All-Tournament team to recognize her selfless play and effort on the field. The Cowgirls concluded their first weekend with an overall record of 3-0-1. They resume action this weekend with games against Ennis, Mabank and Gainesville.
